ABOUT ABOUT

Many disabled people embrace disability as an identity—a core part of who they are, even a source of pride and wellspring for creativity.

As we explore the fundamental humanity of artistic expression through The Voyage of Life, join artist and museum educator Annie Leist (WFU ’96) to re-examine the exhibition through the lens of disability. Leist will discuss how works in the exhibition engage with ideas such as physical embodiment, representation and omission, power structures and institutions, societal norms and expectations, access and exclusion, and communities of care.

Supported by the Bynum E. Tudor Fund for Reynolda House Museum of American Art.
