This talk by architectural historian Peggy Smith marks the launch of a new book sponsored by Preservation North Carolina, Great Houses and Their Stories: Winston-Salem's Era of Success, 1912-1940, which chronicles Winston-Salem's most noteworthy houses built during this time.
Behind every great house lies great stories and personalities, and Smith's book takes us "beyond the boxwood hedge," revealing the city's social and industrial networks and the brilliant architects they employed.
