ABOUT ABOUT

In this collaborative program with Special Collections and Archives of Wake Forest University and Delta Arts Center, Reynolda will screen the 1982 recording of Romare Bearden and Maya Angelou’s conversation about what it meant to be a Black artist. A panel discussion about the enduring impact of Black artists will follow the film.

Moderated by Bari Helms, director of archives and library and curator of Still I Rise: The Black Experience at Reynolda, panelists include Megan Mulder, Z. Smith Reynolds Library special collections librarian; Peggy Moore, Delta Arts Center; and Dr. Julia S. Jordan-Zachery, WFU chair of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. This program has been made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy demands wisdom.
